What is Ultherapy?

Ultherapy is a US FDA-cleared non-invasive and non-surgical facelift that uses micro-focused ultrasound energy to lift and tighten the skin by stimulating collagen production. This process is called neocollagenesis and it triggers the production of fresh, new collagen to naturally lift and improve the elasticity of the skin.

As with all treatments, it is of utmost importance to ensure that you get the authentic Ultherapy experience.

How does Ultherapy work?

Ultherapy delivers focused ultrasound that reaches and heats the Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System (SMAS) layer – the connection between the skin and muscle where actual surgical facelift targets. When the SMAS layer is heated to an optimal temperature, Neocollagensis occurs to strengthen existing weak collagen and stimulate the production of new stronger collagen.

With the use of traditional ultrasound imaging in the device, the doctor is able to see the layers of tissue they are treating during the procedure, ensuring precise treatment and safety for the most beneficial results.

As a result of the high amount of heat energy delivered, the focused ultrasound energy can also reduce double chins and tighten jiggly jowls.

Real-Time Visualization

Ultherapy is the only non-invasive treatment that provides real-time imaging allowing doctors to see the exact layer that they are treating. This helps doctors to see where the energy is being delivered and avoid hitting the bone and blood vessels. This in turn helps to ensure the safety and efficacy of the treatment.

Where can Ultherapy treat?

Ultherapy counteracts the effects of time and gravity on your face, without any downtime.

Firms and lifts the full face, jowls and upper neck to help lighten superficial lines and wrinkles such as forehead lines, fine lines around the eyes, crow’s feet, nasolabial folds, perioral lines, lip lines, and necklines.

Lifts droopy upper eyelids and eyebrows.

Double Chin

Loses fats around the chin and neck area and achieves an overall tightening effect.

Improves the appearance of lines and wrinkles on the décolletage (décolleté).

What to expect during the procedure?

Anaesthesia will be applied to one’s skin before the treatment for a full numbing of the skin. Patients may feel a warm prickly sensation beneath the skin when the ultrasound energy is being delivered into the target tissues.

What is the difference between Ultherapy and HIFU?

Ultherapy is a registered trademark for a brand of HIFU produced by Merz. It is an Aesthetics non-invasive skin tightening procedure that is US FDA-cleared to lift skin on the neck, above the eyebrows and under the chin as well as improve lines and wrinkles on the décolletage.

Ageless also uses Ultherapy and other brands of HIFUs from different countries of origin to offer patients different comfort levels and prices. These HIFU brands are all proven to provide the same high efficacy for skin tightening.

Who is a suitable candidate?

A good candidate has mild to moderate skin laxity where the skin begins to look less firm or tight. Examples include a lowered brow, loose skin on the neck, sagging under the chin, and lines or wrinkles on the chest. Ultherapy results in a gradual, natural-looking lift, leaving patients looking refreshed. However, the treatment will not have as drastic results as a surgical facelift. Therefore, Ultherapy is a great alternative, especially for those not ready for surgery or for patients looking to extend the effects of cosmetic surgery.

Is there any downtime or side effects?

The skin might appear flushed at first, but the redness should disappear within a few hours. Some patients experience slight swelling, tingling or tenderness to the touch, but these are temporary in nature. Patients are able to resume their daily activities immediately after the treatment.
