SmartXide DOT CO2 laser
SmartXide DOT® CO2 laser is ideal for the treatment of pigment irregularities due to sun damage, acne scarring, fine lines, wrinkles, skin laxity and rough skin texture. Not only does the SmartXide DOT CO2 laser offer good results, but do so safely and quickly with little downtime.
The Smartxide DOT CO2 laser uses ablative fractional resurfacing technology to create microscopic injury on skin to stimulate new collagen production, resulting in the formation of a completely new skin layer.
How does Smartxide DOT CO2 Laser work?
The Smartxide DOT CO2 laser makes small microscopic holes in the deeper layers of the skin.
During the treatment, the SmartXide DOT releases laser beam which are fractionated into many small micro beams. It utilises a ‘dot’ pattern to create optimal microscopic perforations on the dermis while skin around each of the microscopic holes remains intact. This allows skin to heal more rapidly from the edge of these tiny ‘dots’, significantly improving overall complexion and reducing patient downtime.
What can SmartXide DOT CO2 Laser treat?
It allows treatment involving deeper parts of the skin exhibiting stubborn conditions such as hypertrophic scars and keloid scars, deep wrinkles, rough skin texture and big pores. It is also used in the treatment of epidermal and dermal pigmentation such as dark eye circles, photo-aged skin and epidermal naevi (mole).
The CO2 laser treatment can be used on any part of the body, particularly the face, neck, chest and hands and difficult areas around the eyes and lips.
Is there any downtime and side effects?
The CO2 laser requires approximately 4 to 5 days of downtime after the procedure. The skin turns slightly red in the first 2 days and the scabs formed will drop off on the 4th or 5th day leaving a brighter smoother skin complexion.
How many sessions are needed?
The total number of sessions needed will depend on the severity of the scars. Generally between 5-5 sessions spaced at 4-6 weeks interval are required to see the best results.
Is it safe for darker skin types?
CO2 laser treatments are safe for the treatment of acne scarring in darker skin types. All skin types can be safely treated with the fractional CO2 laser. It is important for these patients to see an experienced laser surgeon who performs these treatments regularly.
