What is Nabota?
Nabota botulinum toxin type A is an injectable developed by Daewoong Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. in South Korea. It is produced with a patented technology for purity which minimizes the presence of impurities. Nabota is the very first Korean botulinum toxin that entered the U.S. market and is US-FDA-approved!
How does Nabota work?
Nabota is bio-engineered to mimic the natural structure of the body’s very own collagen. It works effectively by creating a bonding matrix in the dermis, leading to a more youthful appearance. It is an ideal treatment for areas with thin and delicate skin such as the under eyes, facial lines, and wrinkles. Additionally, Nabota also has medical applications. It can be used to treat various medical conditions, such as muscle spasms, excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), migraines, and certain neurological disorders.
What does Nabota treat?
Nabota can be used to soften horizontal forehead lines that form as a result of repetitive facial expressions and the natural ageing process.
Glabellar lines (frown lines):
These are vertical lines that appear between the eyebrows, often referred to as frown lines. Nabota injections can help relax the muscles in this area, reducing the appearance of these lines and creating a more relaxed and youthful look.
Crow’s feet are the fine lines and wrinkles that form around the outer corners of the eyes. Nabota can be used to target the muscles responsible for these lines, helping to smooth their appearance.
By injecting Nabota into specific muscles around the eyebrows, it can create a lifting effect and raise the eyebrows slightly, resulting in a more youthful and refreshed appearance.
What is the difference between Nabota and other botulinum toxin type A like, Botox, and Dysport?
Nabota is a high-purity botulinum toxin. Unlike Botox and Dysport, which are aconobotulinumtoxinA and abobotulinumtoxinA respectively, Nabota is made from a slightly different type of clostridium botulinum: prabotulinumtoxinA.
They are essentially the same class of drugs, under a class of neurotoxins. Both are produced from Toxin type A and administered by an injection with similar efficacy and duration ranges.
How many sessions are needed?
The number of sessions needed to achieve the desired results can vary. In some cases, a single treatment session may be sufficient. However, multiple sessions may be necessary, especially if treating different areas or addressing specific concerns.
How long until I can see results?
It typically takes a few days to start seeing the effects of Nabota injections. The onset of results can vary, but many people begin to notice improvements within 3 to 7 days after treatment. The full effects of Nabota injections are usually seen within 1 to 2 weeks after the treatment. At this point, the treated muscles should be relaxed, and the reduction in wrinkles or lines should be apparent.
How long do results last?
The duration of Nabota’s effects varies among individuals but typically lasts between 3 to 4 months. After this period, the muscle activity gradually returns, and the wrinkles or lines may reappear. To maintain the results, follow-up treatments are recommended.
Are there any side effects?
As with other brands, redness, tenderness, swelling, and bruises at the injection site are common and very mild side effects are reported immediately after the injection.
