Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) hair removal treatment offers clinically-proven, safe and effective long-term reduction of unwanted hair. It uses short, safe bursts of intense pulsed light to remove unwanted hair from all body sites in minutes.
How Does IPL Laser Work?
Controlled pulses of light penetrate the epidermis and are absorbed by dark pigments called “melanin” in the hair contained in the follicle. Melanin converts the light energy into heat. This heat is transferred to the hair follicle, which is destroyed, making it unable to produce a new hair. As a result, hair are removed.
Hair in the resting (telogen stage) are treated later. The visible light s is carefully controlled to ensure the correct pulse length, wavelengths and right amount of energy to destroy the follicle.
Which Areas Can This Be Used to Treat?
Common treatment locations include legs, back, underarms, upper lip, chins, brazilian, bikini lines and nipples. However, it’s possible to treat unwanted hair in nearly any area.
Who Are The Best Candidates for This Treatment?
Laser Hair Removal treatment is suitable for most skin types (darker skin type may be unsuitable) and is only effective on growing hairs as these are still attached to the follicle.
How Long Does Each Treatment Take?
An upper lip and chin can be done in 10 minutes. Underarms or bikini lines usually take 15 to 20 minutes. Legs and back will take 20 to 30 minutes.
How Many Sessions Do I Need?
Hair goes through different growth phases and IPL laser works most effectively against hairs that are in the active growth phase. Initially, it is recommended that you undergo a series of four to eight treatments at four to eight-week intervals depending on the area treated.
Permanent reduction in hair growth is achieved in 70 – 80% of individuals treated, and the best results are achieved after multiple treatments.
You may have a few hairs re-grow over a period, so touch-up treatment may be needed for removal from time to time.
Is the Treatment Painful?
While tolerance of pain is very individual, no anaesthetics are required, and most people describe the sensation as practically pain-free, like that of a rubber band snapping onto the skin.
Price starts from $80 per session depending on area.
